U2 on tour............

Ireland’s most famous tax exiles, musicians are getting back on stage to resume the 360 tour. Vid filmed by Larry. Bono’s written some new tunes + they’re gonna play ‘em at their upcoming gigs. 1st up is Turin then back to the States. Should make a bro of mine v. happy

Design flaw in the Claw? Seems like the claw does in fact have a design flaw! Was at the gig in Dublin, Ireland last night.

• The expensive seats (130 euro) at the U2 concert give a bad view of the structure, you can’t see the projected stage just big spots.

• The stage doesn’t come across as so hawt (in the expensive seats)

But! The cheap 35 euro seats way up high in the stands have the best view! Just don’t suffer from vertigo!

So, either stand or go get a seat in the heavens.

U2 in Barcelon "Sunday Bloody Sunday" 30-06-2009

U2 are on stage for two hours. I enjoyed their new stuff & surprise, Sunday, Bloody Sunday. Alot of the rest (mostly the old songs/ themes) in the presentation seemed old though.

• The concert had a vox pop from astronauts on the current Space Station! An astronaut and more were in attendance in the stadium too.

• And an Aung San Su Kyi show piece (!) with a few dozen women walking on stage holding up Aung San Su Kyi paper masks photos and just standing there. The video presentation played for this was crap compared to the same theme at previous tours of U2.

• Another vop pop had Desmond Tutu pluging One.org. All I felt was yawn

All the Killiney siblings were in attendance. And some really cute guys in delirious awe of their heroes and hmm, the drink. Lots of drink.

Croke Park is the best venue in Ireland without a shadow of doubt. It leaves all others in the half penny brigade.

The venue did good, and the sound system too. Just have a good drink.

Coming back next year I hear..
Am going tomorrow probably. Thank God they’re playing Croke Park. Saw Springsteen last week in The RDS in Dublin… The RDS is a crap place to play, crap facilities. I guess The Boss played there ’cause it’s ole fashioned. He gave a great performance, just the venue let him down. It’s not a concert venue, like what is expected these days. Would love to see him play Croke Park.

U2 opened their latest tour in Barcelona last night.. Tickets are available for the Dublin concerts 27th – 27th July (go to needaticket.ie). Their tax exile status to the Netherlands is serving their business interests well. Palm Pre looks like it’s going to open well in the States, as did their Live Nation signing. Heard them thus described “U2 is a global business and it pays taxes globally,” but realistically they are identified as an Irish band (brand?). I reckon they’ll be remembered for their business acumen rather than anything else.

So the u2 Croke Park Dublin, Ireland gigs sold out. Lol, heard a bro pay @ 130 euro for a ticket, “did I want one”. Nope! Not gonna pay 130 to see  Sir Tax Exile in a STADIUM! Can only do so much irony.

Which reminds me, I got two Bob Dylan tickets playing in Dublin in May. Will probably auction them off for…

Playing Croke Park July  24th.  Jasus it’s gonna be crazy getting tickets even if they are stadiums!
