Hugh O’Conor strikes again + films to look forward to =

Hugh O'Conor

Hugh O'Conor

I don’t watch Tv, so alot of stuff just passes me by lol. But, there’s a cool ad on at the mo I hear. Starring one of my favorite actors, Hugh O’Conor. He’s a busy guy.

Hugh is soon to be seen in a movie written by Edna O’Brien  based on her book, Wild Decembers, directed by Anthony Byrne. Coming to TV … for Christmas? Wild Decembers also has Owen McDonnell and Matt Ryan.
He has just finished the movie Re-Uniting the Rubins. A comedy directed by Yoav Factor.

Nick Youngquest & that calender

Nick Youngquest who now plays for Gateshead Thunder in England

The guys from Australia’s AFL & Rugby leagues that posed for the 2008 & 9 “Gods of Football” (!) look like they’ll be doing a 2010 calender DVD etc. It’s to raise money for breast cancer.
Can’t imagine Ronan O’Gara and co. doing a calender quiet like it:-)
Nick Youngquest won’t be doing it this year as he plays in for Gateshead Thunder now.

Les Deux Megots. “The two cigar butts” is a play on the name of the famous Parisian cafe Les Deux Magots. But in the video it looks like the animator had another much cooler cafe in the Marais in mind.. Au Petit Fer à Cheval.

Geeky Stuff = N900 Maemo 5 v iPhone

Nokia N97 White aindreas dot comThe possible Nokia/ IBM “Nokia RX-51 Rover phone” due next year? In the meantime =

The N900 is due October… I see it’s being called the Rover phone by some sites?
After long deliberation I was going to get a mini laptop. Then thought well, the rumored Nokia RX-51 Rover is coming out but I need something in the meantime. N900 is it. Looks like the iPod. But with a full  keyboard and some higher specs. Though slightly heavier.. Have one on pre order.

Update Nokia’s Maemo site changed their vimeo video settings but here’s same on youtube :-)
ps- the N900 Maemo is all over the web. Check out the no. of video promo’s out.

Scary Movie No. 1 = Michael Fassbender in Eden Lake

Michael Fassbender in Eden Lake

Michael Fassbender in Eden Lake

Kelly Reilly, Michael Fassbender, Jack O’Connell all star in Eden Lake out on DVD. What is it with scary movies, I’m not a fan! H2 and some others are out at the mo. But this one has the best cast, including Michael Fassbender.

Anton plays Kane in New York, I love You! out in September

Anton plays Kane in New York, I love You!

I saw Paris, Je t’aime recently. Good movie. I was abit, hmm when I heard it was a film of circa 12 stories. It was OK though.

The same producers have done a similar project but based it in New York. “New York, I love you”, is the movie.
The producers aren’t finished with the formula and future “Cities of Love” movies include ones based in Rio de Jainero, and Berlin among others….
Natalie Portman is in both films, and in New York, I love You, she also directs one of the segments.

There’s about a million actors and directors all listed after the jump.

a laught, a gay cruise, and it’s Dublin v U.A.E next March

Gay Cruise or Out an ' About in Dublin?

Gay Cruise or Out an ' About in Dublin?

Cruising In Style have a cruise to guess where….. The U.A.E.

United Arab Emirates, and the surrounding countries… A gay cruise?  lol.  From the 15th to 22nd March 2010.

At the same time in Dublin, there are some huge-  HUGE projects opening their doors for the 1st time!
It’s Saint Patrick’s Week at the same time as the cruise, so it’s going to be a great time to be in Dublin.

The 2010 St. Patrick’s Festival dates have been confirmed as Friday March 12th – Wednesday March 17th. Paddy’s Week is  great at any time, but next year is going to be special! Book your week off now, seriously :-)
The Huge projects are part of the Dublin Docklands Development, some are listed as being due to open September 2010. But they are hoping to have all the projects finished and opened in March 2010! These being the €400m Convention Centre. The Samuel Beckett Bridge, Canon Hall LUAS line. The Grand Canal Theater, and a completely new Public Square.

If you can’t do Dublin, the Gay Crusie looks interesting. Imagine the U.A.E!

Looks like their doing three other cruises  in 2010 so will look into going on one.

Below is the schedule for the U.A.E Cruise.

Fiona will be cycling the Seán Kelly cycle this Sunday!!

sean kelly aindreas dot com

Fiona will be cycling the Seán Kelly cycle this Sunday!! A small spin of 100 km!  I spoke to Fiona a few minutes ago and she’s doing it for practice!! For the Dublin to Paris Cycle she’s doing in September. Fiona has just gotten back from a trip to Lake Garda in Northern Italy. Called the most beautiful place on earth my Hemingway ( he hadn’t been to Ireland at that stage :-) ).

The cycle this Sunday is called the Kelly Legacy, at 100km, it’s a route that Sean Kelly has made famous. It is basically a circuit of the Comeragh Mountains in an anti-clockwise direction, beginning in Dungarvan and taking the N25 as far as Lemybrien, before swinging on to the R676 towards Carrick-on-Suir. With the lovely Comeraghs on the left, there is a gentle climb most of the way to Carrick-on-Suir, where the route turns left onto the R680 and runs parallel to, and south of, the River Suir the 22km to Clonmel. Skirting the town on the southern side, it swings left onto R671 at Kilmacomma and travels on to the picturesque village of Ballymacarbry. From here, the route continues in a southerly direction before eventually arriving back at the home base of Dungarvan.
Above is Seán in the great Paris-Roubaix race of  ‘83.

The main routes and times include:

  • Dungarvan-Lemybrien (N25), 8-10 a.m.
  • Lemybrien-Carrick-on-Suir (R676), 8-11 a.m.
  • Carrick-on-Suir-Clonmel (R680), 9a.m.-12p.m.
  • Clonmel-Ballymacarbry (R671), 10a.m.-1p.m.
  • Ballymacarbry-Master McGrath (R672), 11 a.m.-6p.m.
  • Dungarvan-Villierstown (via Ballinameela)-Dromana Drive- Cappoquin-Dungarvan (via N72)-10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
  • Ballymacarbry-Dungarvan-via Powers the Pot (R671, R678),12p.m.-3p.m.
  • Ballyhest Cr. Rd (Dá Rua’s)-Mahon Bridge (R676), 1p.m.-4p.m.
  • Mahon Bridge-Bery’s Cross via Mahon Falls, Máma Road, Kilbrien, 2p.m.-6p.m.

Berlinale Talent Campus 2010

Applications are currently being accepted for the Berlinale Talent Campus which takes place from February 13-18, 2010; at the Theater Hebbel am Ufer in Germany, during the Berlin International Film Festival, aka the Berlinale.

It’s about daring to ask the vital questions together in order to exceed your own limits and to keep that one essential goal in sight: to make a great film. This theme also reflects the Campus, which has, since the beginning, strived to connect young international filmmakers with their colleagues and established professionals, always in the spirit of encouraging collaborative filmmaking.”

The application deadline for the Berlinale Talent Campus is October 7, 2009.

They have had campuses  recently open up in India, and South America.

Lance Armstrong wants 10,000 more signatures to the World Cancer Declaration before the Summit ends on Wednesday

Lance Armstrong LIVESTRONG

Lance Armstrong LIVESTRONG

Last month at the start of the Tour de France, Lance Armstrong asked everyone to join him in signing the World Cancer Declaration. The response has been staggering —more than 100,000 have added our names to this urgent global push to fight cancer.

In three days, the LIVESTRONG Global Cancer Summit here in Dublin will come to a close. It’s an incredibly rare opportunity to urge some of the most powerful people in the world to commit the time, energy and resources needed to make a world without cancer a reality. And we can do just that if we add 10,000 more signatures to the Declaration before the Summit ends on Wednesday.

Will you sign the Declaration and then ask your friends and family to help us add 10,000 commitments by Wednesday night? It only takes a moment and every name counts:

http://www.livestrongaction.org/campaigns/commit-fight-cancer

Cancer affects all of us. By 2010, cancer is projected to become the leading cause of death worldwide.
