20 yrs since the fall of the Berlin Wall
Berliners, Germans and everyone is celebrating the fall of the Berlin wall 20 yrs ago on Monday.
Deutsche Welle has an amazing round up of events that lead to it’s fall. Including pieces on the Museum of Terror in Budapest, Hungary. It’s must read stuff.
Official events begin Monday 9th November with a wreath laying at Bernauer Strasse (part of the former border). At 3pm leaders including civil rights campaigners will walk across Bornholmer Bridge. It was here in 1989 that the first gap opened in the Berlin Wall. Monday nite, a party is being held at the Brandenburg Gate.
A temporary West Side Gallery is open and folk can leave a message. Images from the gallery will be webcamed to Write On Wall.
