FMC2 launched in Ireland
The Financial Mathematics and Computation Cluster
The science of Economics is quiet topical at the moment. But Economics is for the most part a bunch of observations. Hence nobody got the current implosion of economies.
So, the study of economics is quiet a new science, with very few rules based on scientific fact.
A development in this area is long due.
Science Foundation Ireland have created FMC2 aka The Financial Mathematics and Computation Cluster and launched it recently. The FMC2 will bring together complementary expertise in financial mathematics, financial economics and computer science.
Research will be led by Prof Anthony Brabazon of UCD .
It will bring together a range of researchers from DCU, NUI Maynooth, University of Ulster, UCLA, Columbia University, Federal Reserve Bank of New York and Technical University of Kaiserslautern, Germany.
Industry partners involved with FMC2 so far include Pioneer Investments, Ryan Capital Ltd and The Institute of Bankers in Ireland.
FMC2 being a globally-leading centre of financial research to provide a critical underpinning for the future development of, and employment growth in, the international financial services sector in Ireland.
