Uruguay makes history (again)
Under the One Laptop per Child initiative, Uruguay has become the first country in the world to deliver a free laptop to each child of primary school age. Uruguay is considering expanding the program to children in kindergarten and in secondary schools.
Earlier 2009 same-sex adoption billed by the Montevideo Assembly meant the continental first for gay and lesbian activists and families alike.
Geeky Stuff = Did you know Uruguay was once known as the “Switzerland of the Americas”. Looks like it wants the title back.
