Christmas glogg is a hot, mulled wine beverage from Denmark, and enjoyed in alot of places these days. It is made with red wine, port wine and some strong spirits like schnapps or vodka. Spiced with cinnamon, cardamom, cloves, orange peels, raisins and almonds.
It’s a typical Danish beverage, traditionally served at Christmas parties coming up to Christmas. You would have a brew on the stove, and neighbors call in over the advent leading up to Christmas Day, and you give them a glass.
It is popular to have some salted fish snacks, Christmas biscuits, nuts, lady apples, sweets, clove-pierced Clementine’s, and aebleskiver (Pancke Puffs,) (warm waffles are popular in Norway), all bits served casually as side nibbles.
It’s a lovely festive tradition.
